Orbit watches a fleet of services and turns a firehose of events into a calm, legible picture. Latency, error rate and saturation share one visual language, so an on-call engineer can read the room in seconds.
Dashboards love to show everything at once. Orbit had to stay quiet when things were healthy, and become unmistakable when they were not — all while receiving updates every second.
I built a small charting layer on top of SVG and Motion rather than pulling in a heavy chart library. Data is batched on the server, animated between states on the client, and every panel shares one time axis.
Live system health, without the noise.
- 01Live metrics over a resilient WebSocket connection
- 02Animated sparklines with a shared time cursor
- 03Incident timeline with severity-based visual states
- 04Keyboard-first navigation for fast triage
